Defined Media / About Adam
Adam Davidson
Creative thinking. Practical skills. From concept to finished.
I’m the designer behind Defined Media. My work brings together 35 years of industry experience across graphic reproduction, retouching, illustration and design.
It started with graphic arts
I started at 17 in graphic reproduction and retouching, completing a trade certificate before studying graphic design and marketing at Enmore Design Centre in Sydney.
I’m trade-qualified in prepress, with 25 years of experience using Adobe Photoshop for retouching, colour correction and image enhancement. That practical grounding still shapes my work at Defined Media. My breadth of skills lets me take a project from the initial idea through design and production to the finished result. Whether it’s a website, video, digital campaign or printed piece, you work directly with me throughout, with one consistent creative direction.
I also offer motion graphics, video production and CG effects, working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
I also offer offset and digital printing, bringing design and print together with the practical knowledge of a trade-qualified prepress professional.
Fifteen years in media
During my fifteen years at Fairfax Media, I started in retouching before moving into magazine cover illustration, editorial illustration and design. That included cover illustrations for Good Weekend, alongside editorial layout work.
Designing for the page brought image-making and typography together. The cover had to catch the reader's eye, and the layout had to carry them through the story.

Design for the community
Alongside work in advertising agencies and design studios, I’ve designed for government organisations, creating publications, campaign artwork and information for local communities.
The work below brings together projects for Inner West and Marrickville councils, from posters and publications to detailed maps.
