THE PERSON BEHIND THE STITCHES

Hi, I’m Tracey.

A love of sewing that began at home, and a business built around sharing it with kids.

I’m the person behind Sew Fun for Kids in Castle Hill. In 2015, I brought together two things I love: sewing and working with kids.

MY HOME IN THE HILLS

My story
starts here.

I’ve lived in the Hills District all my life. I was born in Baulkham Hills, where I had my first home, and went to Jasper Road Public School and then Baulkham Hills High School.

Later, I bought my first house in Winston Hills. I lived there for many years and raised my son and daughter there.

Today, I run Sew Fun for Kids from my studio in Castle Hill. From my own school days to raising a family and running a business, the Hills has been home through it all.

MY FIRST STITCHES

It started
with Mum.

My passion for sewing came from my mum, Lyn. She was always sewing clothes for our family, and growing up around that creativity inspired my own love of sewing.

Mum still helps out with the business from time to time, so you might even meet Lyn at the studio. It’s lovely to have the person who inspired me still involved today.

A CHANGE OF DIRECTION

Following
my own thread.

Before starting Sew Fun for Kids, I worked as a technical writer. I wanted to follow my passion for sewing and working with kids, so in 2015 I started the business from my home in Winston Hills.

My own kids were still young, and I began fitting classes around family life. What started at home gave me a way to share something I loved with other kids.

A PLACE TO CREATE

From home
to the studio.

Later, I decided to find a dedicated space for the business. I found just the place on Terminus Street in Castle Hill, and that became the Sew Fun for Kids studio.

From those first classes at home in Winston Hills to the studio today, sewing, kids and family have been at the heart of the story.
